Good Times in the Badlands

Now we know why they call it the Badlands.

Now we know why they call it the Badlands.

It’s Friday on the Great Race 2016 and we had a full day of the wonders of South Dakota. After leaving Rapid City we headed to Chamberlain, where we were greeted by some of the most enthusiastic and friendly people ever. A wonderful lunch and patriotic centerpieces, complete with sparklers and Tootsie Pops.  When we arrived in Sioux Falls, one of the largest crowds yet was there to welcome us and check out the cars. Along the way, we drove through the Badlands National Park and both Brett and Dan and Trevor and Josh picked up a few aces today. It was a good day on the road. On Saturday we head into Iowa and it’s hard to believe it will all be over on Sunday when we arrive in Moline, Illinois. We are already feeling nostalgic that it’s going to be over soon.

We’re right behind you!

Let’s make this light!

Mary and I enjoy seeing these preserved and treasured signs in the small towns.

We thought these Mt. Rushmore people were fantastic.

The crowds couldn’t get enough of the cars at Sioux Falls.

Trevor and Josh now have eight aces total for the 2016 Great Race.

If you’ve ever driven across South Dakota, you can’t escape the fabulous marketing for the famous Wall Drug Store.
