After the start on Saturday, June 23, at the Pierce Arrow Museum (highlighted by grand marshal Wayne Carini and his own 1916 Pierce Arrow), we made our way to the first overnight stop in Fairport, N.Y. Fairport is on the Erie Canal and there is a very picturesque bridge at the finish line. This stop/city was the winner of the Best Lunch Stop on the Great Race in 2012 and tonight’s reception didn’t disappoint. Dinner on Saturday evening is at a local favorite – and we are all looking forward to trying something called “the Garbage Plate.” Thanks to all the fans that came out to send us off at the starting line. It’s really hard to explain how wonderful all the people along the route are. There’s something about classic cars that just brings out the best in people. We are so thankful to be able to participate again this year, especially with so many family members.
