If you don’t receive or read Stitches Magazine, you might have missed some very important articles. Especially in the August 2015 issue. I highly encourage you to take the time to read the article by Theresa Hegel (she authored 2 very well-written features in this issue), “Can This Shop Be Saved?”   Stitches sent The Embroidery Coach, Joyce Jagger, to Stitches In Time, an embroidery and monogramming store in Concord, North Carolina. Hegel tells the story of how Jagger evaluated the problems that were hampering productivity and profitability and helped the mother/daughter team that owns and runs the store turn things around. There are many excellent marketing ideas that all garment decorators can take into consideration; and many that are specific to embroiderers, such as tricks for faster threading and proper hooping. You’ll be amazed, as I was, at the depth of detail featured in the article. I’m sure you will recognize many of the issues that were pinpointed and hopefully you can learn how to start with a mini-makeover of your own.
