We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Norman Cohn, ASI Chairman Emeritus, a respected leader, partner, and friend to so many in our industry. Norman’s impact on the promotional products community will be felt for generations through his innovation, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Norman was a visionary who helped shape this industry into what it is today. He led with both heart and purpose, and his legacy lives on not only in the businesses he built, but in the people he inspired along the way. Coming from similar entrepreneurial, family business backgrounds, there was an immediate connection and mutual respect. When Norman and Suzanne presented us with the ASI Counselor Supplier Family Business of the Year Award in 2019, it felt like meeting an old friend. It was an honor to know him.

I’ve also reflected on something our CEO Carleen Gray shared. She said that Norman understood our business and our customers from the first time she met

him. His philosophy of helping customers succeed by giving them the tools and education to become stronger business leaders perfectly aligned with the Stahls’ philosophy. She noted that he always asked thoughtful questions and had an innate understanding of the challenges our industry faces. I couldn’t agree more.
What always stood out to me, and to so many at Stahls’, was the way Norman made people feel. He had a genuine curiosity about others and a way of making every interaction meaningful. You felt seen, heard, and valued in his presence, whether it was a quick conversation at a show or a deeper discussion about the business and where it was headed.
We will always remember the way Norman made everyone he came into contact with at Stahls’ feel important and recognized. Those moments reflect who he was at his core and the lasting impression he leaves on so many.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his wife, Suzanne, his children, and his grandchildren during this difficult time.
Norman and his red hat energy will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to live on throughout the community he helped build.
