You work hard and you do good work. Do you want to get some industry-wide recognition for your garment decoration accomplishments? Have you ever considered entering one of the annual competitions organized by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association or SGIA? The SGIA is one of the most highly respected organizations in the world. It’s mission statement says it all: “SGIA will continually strive to be the foremost resource for information and education within the specialty imaging industry.” If you have never attended an industry trade show, the SGIA Expo should be on your list. This year it’s taking place in Las Vegas in October. Why not give yourself an additional reason to attend by entering your best work in one of their competitions. Golden Image
SGIA Printer Members (corporate memberships): Send us your best work of the year! The Golden Image Awards are the pinnacle of excellence in printing. Judging takes place on site at the Expo, and all submissions are displayed in the Golden Image Gallery. Submit entry forms online; entries are due to the SGIA Golden Image depository between by October 5, 2018. First entry is free; $35/additional entry.
Product of the Year
Suppliers: Attendees have a lot of floor to cover. Draw attention to your booth and your new products by earning a Product of the Year award. Submit entry forms online by July 27; the entries must arrive at SGIA between June 1 and August 3, 2018. Winners will be announced August 24, 2018. $75/entry.
ASDPT Tom Frecska Student Competition
Educators: Show off your star students’ best work. Enter them in the 2018 ASDPT Tom Frecska Student Competition. Best of Show winners receive $500 to use toward their graphic arts education, $500 for their school and a special award from ASDPT. Entries must be entered online and received at SGIA Headquarters before September 1.
No entry fee, but Educational Institution Members must submit entries on behalf of their students.
Wrap Team Challenge
The Wrap Team Challenge will judge your wrapping speed and skill over three days. Beginning on Thursday, October 18, two-person wrap teams will race to wrap the side of a car in 20 minutes or less. The championship round takes place Saturday, October 20, with $3,500 in prizes up for grabs.
Register early: The number of teams is limited. Registration fee is $150 per two-person team; you must register with a partner.
