Mary is looking forward to navigating (Mary is the driver) the GTO in the Great Race 2015. Especially now that we have had more comfortable seats and rally speedometer installed.

The 1941 Packard got a new overdrive that was available in 1941, and we eliminated a mechanical fuel pump and anything that transmits heat. We also lifted the seat 2 inches.

We still have some work to do to get the “Beautiful Lady” back to rallying form. But we are making progress.
We’ve been working at a feverish pace trying to get the Spirit of Stahls’ cars ready for the upcoming 2015 Hemmings Motor News Great Race. (@TheGreatRace) Safety is one of our top concerns and we are doing everything possible to make sure our cars are rally ready and as safe as possible. Remember the photos we shared of the restoration progress on the Stars and Stripes? Well we’re happy to report that the car is looking better than ever, with the custom paint job finished, the windshield and headlights reattached and all the chrome put back on. It looks fantastic. The GTO that Mary and I will be driving (#90), has had new seats installed, along with a custom “Great Race” speedometer. We are really looking forward to driving this beauty on Route 66. Less than a month from now, we will be on the road.
