Great Race End of Day 2

This photo is from Day 1, as we were heading from Saint Ignace to Sault St. Marie.

Sunday June 24th. After leaving Sault St. Marie this morning, we made it to our lunch stop in Elliot Lake, where we discovered the town was going through a terrible tragedy, as part of a roof had collapsed in a local mall. We said a prayer for those affected, and it was a sombering experience, reminding us how fast things can change. Out of respect our lunch venue was moved but we still had many well wishers and greeters along the route. It is so hear warming to see all the support from the small towns along road. We rolled into Greater Sudbury, Ontario after a mild rain storm that caused us to put our roof up. Having done that, the roof lash was not 100% and we spent much of the ride holding onto the roof to keep it from blowing away, we didn’t want to stop and lose any time. Remember, this really isn’t a race, we are usually going 5-10 miles under posted speed limits. But you have to keep an eye on your time, when you lose time due to cornering, you need to get back on pace. We finished day 1 in 50th position, out of 88 teams, so we are holding our own.
