If you’ve ever experienced the problem of ink transferring onto unwanted areas (also called “ghosting”) when heat applying sublimation on white or light colored garments, Ariel of Stahls’ International has a fantastic solution. (Recently published in the Stahls’ International Newsletter) Try this technique using CAD-CUT® Glitter Flake™. Not only will you prevent your sublimation transfer from ghosting, you will also get a “dazzling” new twist on your heat printed logo. Here’s what you need:
Materials:
• Sublimation printer
• Sublimation paper
• Plotter/cutter
• CAD-CUT Glitter Flake White
• Bond paper/white paper
• Stahls’ Thermo-Tape
Steps:
1. Print logo-design on sublimation paper
2. Using a computerized cutter, cut the shape of the logo-design (slightly smaller) on white paper
3. Remove the shapes of the logo on the white paper to create a template
4. Using the cutter, cut the shape of logo-design (same size used for white paper) in Glitter Flake
Layer materials as follows:
1. Center template on top of the sublimated printed logo-design and attach both materials with Stahls’ Thermo-Tape
2. Insert Glitter Flake inside of template
Heat Application:
Flip the layered materials and place the group on the T-shirt to be heat applied. Heat apply all at once at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 seconds with a medium pressure. Note: For complex designs, heat apply Glitter Flake first, then place the sublimated logo-design with the attached template on top, and heat apply all at once.
