Ready for the Start of the Great Race 2018

Kari and Kaitlyn, AKA the Mustang Sallys, are participating in the Great Race for the first time in a 1965 Ford Mustang.

The 2018 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty kicked off successfully on Friday with the Trophy Run, which is a short warm-up rally. It’s important because if there is a tie during the Great Race, results from the Trophy Run are used to determine the winner. All the Spirit of Stahls Teams were happy with their results. Some photos below from Thursday and Friday. The Trophy Run took us to downtown Lockport, N.Y., where we had a nice lunch. Now we are back in Buffalo, where the race will officially start on Saturday morning. Get a good night’s rest everyone and see you at the start line!

Brett and his sons are driving the Packard. Older son Noah is navigating for the first time and younger son William helps out when needed from the back seat.

This bronze pig caught our eye.

Dan Stahl and Brad Philips are driving the 1935 Auburn, another fan favorite at every stop.

It takes a village to get all those stickers on. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out during tech inspection on Thursday.

Here’s a list of the cars we have entered in the Great Race this season.

Getting the GTO set up with all the race stickers.

Some of us got to take a closer look at Niagara Falls on Thursday. So majestic.
