Today marks the day 70 years ago, in 1941, when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Ceremonies marking the event are taking place right now in Oahu. It is a day for reflection and for honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. In reading about this event online, I ran across an article in the New York Times about Pearl Harbor survivors. Most of them are either in their 90’s or heading there soon. The article describes the disbanding of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association will take place on Dec. 31st of this year. The Association was formed in 1958 with 28,000 members. At the disbanding of the association there will be onlyl 125 in attendance. I know that history will never forget what happened that day. We shouldn’t either. Thank you to the members of the Association for their service in preserving and honoring that history.
