Rookie Teams from Stahls Automotive
Mary and I believe it is an excellent opportunity for more enthusiasts to get a taste of rallying. The official name of the event is the Great Race Spring Regional Rally, presented by the Stahls Automotive Foundation.
Activities are being planned for all three car museums in the city (the Early V8 Ford Foundation Museum, The Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum and the National Auto and Truck Museum) and for an event in downtown Auburn on the Courthouse Square. Auburn is definitely a city rich in automotive history. It’s the perfect location for the Spring Rally.
Other activities will include a seminar to the secrets of being a great navigator.
What is the Great Race Spring Rally?
At its core, the Great Race Spring Rally is a unique road rally that combines the thrill of a race with the precision and strategy of an endurance event. Unlike traditional races, the focus here is not on speed alone, but rather on maintaining precise average speeds. It challenges participants to stay on track and complete each leg of the journey within specific time limits. A great test of their driving skills, navigational abilities, and teamwork.
A Controlled-Speed Endurance Challenge
One of the most intriguing aspects of the Great Race Spring Rally is the concept of controlled-speed endurance. Participants must aim to maintain an assigned average speed for each segment of the rally. Penalties are assigned for arriving too early or too late at designated checkpoints. This element adds an exciting twist, as drivers must strategize and adjust their speed to stay on target, making split-second decisions that can make or break their performance.
Unforgettable Visual Feast
The rally routes are carefully curated to showcase the beauty and charm of the region. Each leg of the journey offers participants and spectators alike a chance to immerse themselves in the great outdoors. The Great Race Spring Rally not only tests the drivers’ skills but also provides an unforgettable visual feast for all who witness the event.
At the Stahls Automotive Foundation, we are dedicated to preserving automotive heritage and supporting events that celebrate the love for classic cars. We are sure the Spring Rally will provide an exceptional experience for participants and spectators alike. It provides a great sense of community and camaraderie.
Good Luck and Good Rallying
Mary and I wish all the participants and especially the teams from Stahls Auto Foundation all the very best. Race, Rally, Repeat!
