If you are in the Detroit Metro area and are looking for a fun way to support veterans this weekend, make an effort to attend the Nov. 10 charity hockey match between Team Stahls and the Detroit Red Wings Alumni. It takes place at the St. Clair Shores Civic Arena at 12 p.m. It’s going to be a full house, so arrive early. Red Wings Alumni including Darren McCarty, Joe Kocur and Ted Lindsey–to name a few–will be in attendance. It’s always thrilling to watch alums from our beloved Red Wings face off against Stahls’ staff, family and friends. Tickets are $10 and kids under age 10 are admitted free. This exciting hockey match takes place as part of a weekend-long salute to military veterans. There will be a special ceremony honoring veterans before the game with an opening face-off and presentation of custom-decorated Stahls’ team jerseys. If you are unable to attend the hockey match, please plan to join us on the following day at the Stahls Automotive Museum in Chesterfield. Doors are open Sunday Nov. 11th from 10 a.m. to 5pm. Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend and all are welcome. Festivities start with a Veteran’s Program at 11:00 a.m., featuring the Anchor Bay ROTC color guard and Stahls’ own Darry Wright singing the National Anthem. Later in the day we will hear from guest speaker Marty Baird and GP, his beloved service dog. The entire weekend benefits Guardian Angels, a medical service dog organization that pairs dogs with veterans.
