May 13-15 we had the opportunity to participate in the Northeast Rally Club’s “Rally Round the Erie Canal,” in Fairport, New York. During the 2012 Great Race, this village on the Erie Canal was voted best lunch stop by drivers and navigators. Fairport has also been called “one of the best 100 places to live” in the United States. We know why. After a “fun run” (no scoring) on Friday, we participated in the timed rally on Saturday and Sunday. The routes led us through the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State and included a stop at Three Brothers Winery in Geneva, NY. Great Race Veterans John and Scott Hudson hosted Saturday’s lunch in Baldwinsville, New York. It was good to see old friends and meet new ones. Hard to believe the 2016 Great Race is just four weeks away.

If you look on the door you can see the Rally sticker for “Rally Round the Erie Canal”. What’s a rally without a sticker???

The Stars and Stripes ran into some repair problems just before we left, so Trevor and Josh participated in the Packard. We were just glad we discovered the problem before The Great Race.
