Thank you St. Augustine as a wonderful start city for the Great Race 2023. It’s always exciting to get on the road and started on our adventure. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and thank you to everyone who came out to wish us well.

We had a decent day on the road to Tifton, Georgia, our first overnight stop on June 24th. The town’s motto is “The Friendly City” and it did live up to their name. This is the second time the Great Race has stopped in Tifton.

Mary and I earned two aces on the first stage of the Great Race. An ace is when you complete a leg of the journey in the exact time that is prescribed for that leg by the rally organizers.

It’s always an honor to earn an ACE.

If you want to see more photos from all the teams at each stop, you can also follow the Great Race Facebook page.

We met Joe Watts in a gas station. He said he randomly read about the Great Race and decided to hop on his motorcycle and see what it was all about. We didn’t think we would see him again but he caught up with us at our hotel. Nice to meet you Joe!

The Great Race is truly about the experience and the people you meet along the way, like Joe Watts. Sunday has us arriving in Auburn, Alabama, a college town. There will be a large turnout and we are looking forward to meeting more classic car enthusiasts and sharing our passion for the Great Race.
